Rediscovering that essential Sunset ‘Wow Factor!’

Lugarno, Sydney: Designer pool renovations. Pool heating & lighting ideas

Perched upon a cliff top overlooking the Georges River National Park this relic from the swinging 1960’s would have definitely made a imposing impression when originally commissioned. This swimming pool had dominated its scenic south Sydney location for almost 50 years. However, half a century on, the impression it was leaving, no longer enhanced its idyllic surroundings and were creating the opposite effect, seriously eroding its owner’s property value.

Lugarno, North Shore, Sydney: Concrete in-ground swimming pool & spa pricesSunset Pool Renovation’s returned this pool to its former glory by modernising its unusual construction, updating outdated services and re-establishing the original ‘wow factor’ created over five decades ago.

An elderly pool or spa will detract from any home improvements you undertake, and can make a property virtually impossible to sell. Sunset can enhance your leisure assets and restore their ability to maximise your property’s value . Call 1300 000 412 today to discover how or complete the online enquiry right now.

Whilst this nineteen sixty’s pool may have set a benchmark at the time the Australian pool design and construction industry has progressed in leaps and bounds in the ensuing decades. The masonry pool shell construction was predominantly in core filled besser block on a concrete slab foundation, topped with bricks and all bound together with mortar. A building technique more commonly associated with retaining walls in the 21st century.

Lugarno, North Shore, Sydney: Concrete in-ground swimming pool renovationsThe aging structure had deteriorated to the point where it was no longer water tight, the water filtration system had become obsolete and it did not get close to complying with current pool and spa safety standards.

There were many modern improvements that Sunset would employ once the pool structure itself had been rendered sound. Then there were internal stairs and safety fencing to be added to comply with contemporary NSW pool standards. This pool required and deserved a serious Sunset make over.

Initially the pool shell required stripping to identify structural flaws and was core drilled to fit efficient water management and introduce a solar heating system, technology that did not even exist when the pool was originally built. The brick built topping was removed then replaced with a new reinforced concrete wall extension and the masonry’s flaws were repaired before an epoxy waterproof barrier was applied to reseal the entire pool shell.

The pool interior was then relined and finished in Sunset Samoan Blue with contrasting ceramic mosaic waterline tiles. To maintain the refurbished entertaining area’s uncluttered lines Merbau timber decking was extended as coping to knit the pool into is surrounds. The rebuilt shell’s cliff side coping was finished in Himalayan Sandstone beneath the new semi-frameless glass safety fence. Sunset’s finishing touches were new low voltage interior pool lighting and the 3D Stack stone feature wall to disguise the only remaining ugly masonry.

The benefits of returning one of this home’s most impressive features are nowhere more appreciated than by the pool’s proud owners. Their unspoiled bush outlook to the Georges River is restored and they have significantly upgraded and heated their home’s most valuable leisure asset.

The results reflect the pool owners ecological and aesthetic aspirations and are underpinned by what has become known as the ‘Sunset Standard’. A combination of quality attributes that equip Sydney’s most discerning homeowners with an environmentally superior and lasting feature.

Sunset Pool’s Ben Thompson says that any aging swimming pool can be transformed into a sparkling contemporary feature however, it is easy to do a poor quality job and far more difficult to refurbish a swimming pool to the Sunset Standard.

With Sunset’s 50mm hydraulic pressure pipe fitted throughout to make certain that this pool always operates at peak performance, minimising maintenance, reducing operating overheads and optimising overall efficiency. The new filtration and water management systems are far more efficient and require far less energy to operate than what had been required over the last fifty years.

At the end of the day, you can rely on Sunset for a pool with the wow factor that reflects your individual needs. Call 1300 000 412 or complete the enquiry form to discover how Sunset Pools can make a real difference to your enjoyment of pool ownership.
